Hey all
I'm having a few electrical probs on my 206 1.4 (2000 model)
I think the probs might be connected in some way through a fuse or something, but so far I haven't found any blown fuses on visual inspection.
1. Every time i turn on the car, my radio wants a code input, and the memory is purged for stations.
2. when I turn on the car, i have backlight in my display (the one at the hazard light switch) works just fine, but when i turn on the headlights the backlight in the display dims or turns off (here in Denmark we have to have our headlights on all day). This is probably intentional but is there a way to disable this function
3. no power in cigarette lighter
4. rev counter only moves slightly at high revs otherwise no movement at all
5. the radio control stalk at the steering wheel dosn't seem to work at all. (probably isn't connected though, I have to remove the radio to find out)
Any thoughts on faults/solutions for the above?
Kind regards
Henrik

On a pre-plex I think it's possible to make the display 'not notice' that the lights are on by cutting one of the wires to the display. To dim the display manually at night, attach the cut ends to a switch (close to dim) so you can select if the mod should be active or not.
On multiplexed ones, I think there's a setting in the BSI to have the dipped beams come on with the ignition even though the switch is in the '0' position. This also keeps the instrument lights off and the displays bright until you turn the switch to 'actually' turn the lights on... (This is the way my Swedish sold RC behaves)
As to the radio - sounds like the constant +12V is dead. Check fuses and wiring.
Cig lighter - same thing, check wiring and fuses.
Rev counter - I believe you can check that the sensor works by using an OBD reader and see if you get proper rev values there. Other suspect is the motor mech for the needle in the cluster. IIRC there's a thin plastic axle that tends to break and might cause the symptoms you have.Replacent from a donor cluster is probably the way to go if that's the case. tho I know at least some took out the affected cogwheel and drilled out the plastic and inserted a metal axle instead.
