Hi

My alternator belt and tensioner broke, and in replacing it it's become clear that a bracket has broken, but I don't know what it is. It's attached to the engine, so looks like an engine support bracket. However, I've tried to search for this part using this wording, and it doesn't exist.

Here's a link with the photo - can anyone tell me what it is?

Thanks all!

It's the sprung belt tensioner. Looks like it has broken the bottom end off it.

Hi

Sorry, it's actually what the tensioner attaches to.

I've circled the part in this diagram. Can anyone tell me the part?

www.pistonheads.com/ga...99&nmt=206 gti - help identify part

Thanks.

It's part of the mount on the block. Very unusual to need to repair or replace that part.

Thanks for identifying.

Unfortunately when the alternator belt and tensioner went, it looks like it's take this with it.

Any idea where I would get one without having to buy a whole engine?

I changed my tensioner last summer, off the top of my head im sure the tensioner connects to the block, not that mount.

The front bolt on the tensioner definitely attaches to that block on the side of the block. Have a look on Ebay engines and see if you can work out how it all fits together.
