Hi,
I'm in the middle of changing my clutch, but ran into an issue, I have removed all bolt to the gearbox, and separated the gearbox from the engine around 1cm. Now it seems stuck?! Should I just keep pulling by force, or is there something I haven't thought about maybe?
I followed the guide in Haynes together with:
www.peugeot206cc.co.uk...cg6uk3.htm
Though my car is a 1.6 from 1999
Thank you!

onActually I have only removed the left one (this is a left-hand-drive car :)).. Would it really matter that much? It feels a bit like the gearbox is stuck in the middle where the clutch bearing would be... :S

i did my clutch a few months back an i had a similar problem, one thing i found helpfull was a bottle jack under the engine (off centre) to tilt the engine, pointing the end of the gearbox down and with a wiggle and a struggle managed manouver and seperate the clutch housing from the engine.
one little tip when you have fitted the new clutch ensure you have put the pressure plate on evenly and tight enough (3 times of stripping and completly refitting only for the wheels spining when they shouldnt be tought me that).

I FINALLY got the gearbox off, for future reference here's what happened:
I removed all bolts holding the gearbox to the engine, but I didn't see the little detail that the nut i removed from the exhaust is actually a bolt with a nut on. So when i removed the last bolt, the gearbox was loose like it should, and i got it out with the right driveshaft in place, since I didn't manage to split the joint apart
However time to change the clutch now and I read a few places that I need to mark the location of the old one, before removing - here's the mio. dollar question: What is it I need to notice?
I don't seems to find any marks or anything, is it the pressure plate i need to notice? I haven't removed the old clutch yet because of this, I would like to know what I'm doing first...

Mark the pressure plate in relation to the flywheel, this is only done if the old pressure plate is going back in.
No markings needed if fitting a new one.
Also note which way round the friction plate goes back on when refitting.

Thank you!
I know got the old clutch off, installed and centralised the new one, and almost got the gearbox back in place - it takes a bit longer than estimated, so I'm gonna try to get the rest fitted back later this week, hopefully it helped

Wow what a project this turned out to be, I just need to put back the lower arm joint and put the wheel back on, but I'm STUCK :( I simply cant seem to get the part with the brake disc far enough into the car such that the joint slides in, I'm pushing down the lower arm with a crowbar but thats not enough Any suggestions??? Anywhere I can check? I tried putting it together without the drive axle, that works like a charm, but as soon the drive axel is fitted, its pretty much impossible!?

You need a longer bar OR a fat person to assist, preferably both.

the problem is not the lower arm though, but actually putting the part with the axle and brakeplate into place, does it really take that much violence to put it in? I didn't need to use power at all really when the axle was gone

is it possible that i have done smt with the driveshaft maybe so its slighty longer? I tried for many hours now, and i simply cant put it in right possition, i compressing the spring with a jack, and then use a crowbar to move it in place, but still its not entirely in place... it feels like the driveshaft is too long??

Try holding the suspension arm in place using a ratchet strap that will stop it attempting to move out when you come to fit the balljoint in place.Tie the crowbar to the lower arm with a piece of rope and pull down.
Kind Regards

I finally got this fixed after 4 days of work on the car lol. It showed out to be the cross joint in the driveshaft, where the spring had turned 90degrees preventing the driveshaft to insert fully Thought I would write it here in case anyone else has similar problems! Thank you all for advices.
