Morning folks
I have a 52 plate 206 that this morning gave out 3 short(ish) beeps when i inserted the key and started it up. The middle display that usually shows the miles had a row of lines like this _ _ _ _ _ and whay i assume looks to be a shower head at the end
Could you tell me if this means that the engine coolant is low as I have looked a differing pictures on the internet which some say it is the oil but i have only recently has he oil and filters changed so I'm a bit confused
Im currently at work so unable to check a manualk and I'm also concerned that it may blow up on the way home!
Any help is gratefully appreciatred as I have no clue when it comes to cars

The mileage display also shows the oil level. If the display was flashing the _ lines, then that usually means a faulty oil level sensor. Check the oil level using the dipstick.
The beeps could have been a warning that the oil is low, a faulty gauge, or it could be something completely different as these cars like to beep for no reason at all.

Hi there,
It is an oil level warning as I understand, mine seems to fluctuate between full, and 3/4 full everytime I start the car.
There is more information in the following thread, but basically, make sure you check your oil level at the dipstick to be safe.

Thanks

Thanks Macca
Yeah I was parked on level ground and the funny thing is that about 3 weeks ago I had an oil and filter change done at the garage so any potential oil level problems I would've thought that would be a moot point? However the potential faulty guage is something that I guess should be checked but with no warning lights, no real difference when I was driving it and the temp guage staying at mid way as it usually does after driving for more that 10 mins or so just makesd me wonder if its just 'being a peugeot'! I ve read many things form a battery on its way out to the key fob needing replacing but it was the display with _ _ _ _ _ on that concerned me as I don't remember having seen it before.

Thanks Mikedoubleu
Thats exactly the display I got this morning. As I said to Macca, I had the oil and filters changed a few weeks back so it cant be a problem with the levels and I have a grey driveway that is showing now signs of a leak which I would imagine would be present. I had a new dipstick put in also when it was in the garage so I ll pop out on my break and see what the outcome is. It was just a shock at half 6 this morning to be greated by an unexpected beeping!
Cheers

Without dipping the oil you can't be 100% certain the level is correct. How do you know that it was topped up to the corrcet level by the mechanic. We all occassionally make mistakes. Please dip the level.

Just been out in the car and had 3 beeps when starting. It was the door open warning bleep and got the message on the MFD at the same time.
Might just be a case of you heard the beeping and then looked at the dash and noticed the oil level display. It's not the sort of thing I am in the habit of looking at when I start the engine

I've even heard of cars gone in to a main dealer for a service & sent out with no oil in the engine
