Hi all.

Just looking at a diagram trying find the offside side light fuse but not having much luck. Am I having a serious blond moment or is there some simple explanation why the front and back o/s side lights went out along with the number plate lights? It's a 206 on a 52 plate but it has the 2003 fuse box by the look of it. The previous year seemed to have a fuse for the o/s side lights.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Julie

Technically the circuit is protected by MF07. The number plate lights get a feed from the BSI and both rear lights take a separate feed each, as well as the front lights using 2 feeds, so basically all the sidelights are on separate circuits.
If it's not the bulbs, then you are looking at the BSI.
If all rear lights were out, I'd have said check the earth point in the boot behind the left light.

Thanks for responding so quickly. Very Happy

Does it mean loads of cash or is it simple to sort out?

Have you noticed if the cigarette lighter light is out as well?

Try a BSI reset, this sometimes sorts circutry problems out, try a few times until you are convinced it is not going to sort it out, got mine working again that way.

If no luck then probably a resistor has blown in the BSI as macca has pointed out.

Thanks Drewden.

Is the BSI easy to reset? If not, is it a costly job to replace?

I will also check the cigarette lighter first thing tomorrow. If that's not working, could it mean another problem?

Multiplexed Electrical System
When disconnecting the battery to do electrics, or just to change it, you need to follow this guide. Failure to do this could result in a £600 bill from Peugeot!
* Put down the drivers window.
* Pop and Open the bonnet. Shut ALL DOORS apart from the bonnet.
* Leave the car for at least 3 minutes. This allows the BSI to shut down and go to "sleep."
* Disconnect the clamps on the battery, and change/do electrics/whatever you are planning to do. If performing a soft reset, leave the battery disconnected for a few minutes.

* When reconnecting, reattach the clamps on the battery. Don't shut the bonnet yet. Leave the car for a few more minutes. This allows the car to settle.
* Lean through the drivers window, and turn the sidelights on. (Don't open the door.)
* This is called a "Soft Start" for the BSI.
* Let the car finish thinking about everything, and check all the systems etc.
* Start the car.

The cigarette lighter bulb is what i was on about, works of the same loop as the side lights and number plate lights, the cigarette lighter itself is fused seperately.

Have you done anything to the electrics prior to noticeing the sidelights and number plate lights not working.

The cigarette lighter works but the light around it isn't. No electrical work has been carried out before the problem occurred.

And I've replied to yours, so now the message you sent me will have moved from the outbox to the sentbox because it has been opened

When Drewden opens the message from you, that too will move to the sentbox

Hi all,

I have just noticed that my PM to Macca is now in my sent box so maybe it is me doing something wrong.

Anyway, what I was asking Drewden was this.

What are your views on picking up live feed from the working side and connecting it to the dead side on the lights? Is this a possibility?

Julie

When i had the identical problem as yourself 3 years ago, I got Lee who is on this site, to my car who was going to piggy back the wiring, (as you are asking) but for some unknown reason that was not possible.

To cut a long story short, i ended up through a friend, getting a bloke who was a wizard in electronics and the like, and repaired a resistor inside the engine fusebox, and also did something to the BSI fusebox under the steering wheel.

Heres a bit of information from my post 3 years ago.

How are you progressing jooo, have you tried a BSI reset, did it achieve anything.

If you live in yorkshire, i could possibly help you out with the guy who fixed mine.
