As of late I am having a few issues with selecting reverse gear properly and it has been suggested that I replace the gear linkage. I have someone that can do the job for me but we are both unsure as to what sort of gear linkage it is and what part(s) to buy.
I have a set of these already;

but would you recommend I change this part as well?

My car is a 1.4 Quicksilver 2003, multiplex.

Difficult reverse gear selection on the MA gearbox is a known issue.
When it happens next time, select neutral, foot of the clutch pedal for a second or 2, press the clutch down again then try & select reverse. If it goes in ok then there is nothing wrong with it.
A lot of the time its simply the operator just not used to the Fred Flintstone mid 1980's gearbox design after driving more modern stuff.

Thanks for the reply MrBSI. I do what you suggested already to I ensure I don't knacker it up as it would actually go into reverse just grind and crunch as it wasn't selected properly. I think I will get these rods fitted anyway as I got them for £10 fitting is a few quid but I will leave the mechanism alone as there is no point spending money if I don't have to.
Thanks again, it's much appreciated.
