Hello people. I have a x reg gti. The airbag light comes on from time to time in a flashing form. I have had it pluged into a snapon diagnostic, the bloke told me it was pass airbag switch or airbag ecu/ecm. But today I went trought a bigish puddle (slowly as you do) and it triggered the falt.
Any ideas boys and girls.

Get it scanned with Peugeot Planet.
A Snap On scanner just isn't very good for fault finding on a 206

So your saying the software the manufacturer of the car made to tell you whats wrong and can give specific manufacturer fault codes is worse than a 3rd party scanner with generic codes?
As said, get planet on it or just keep p**sing in to the wind.

If you want to keep guessing, then keep scanning it with general diag. tools,if you wanna fix it,then look for a close garage with pp2000 or a member close by your area who would like to help.

If the snapon scanner pulled the codes off the car why would I need pp pluged in.
Any suggestions that are to the point

If you've had it scanned by a garage that in your opinion uses the dogs danglies of diagnostic equipment, then take the car back to them as obviously they know what the exact fault is.
Hang on, they don't

The simple answer is to change the switch and the airbag ECU. Not really rocket science since some bloke with a fancy bit of machinery has told you what the faults could be.
The proper answer is what you have already been told.
Why would the PSA group spend so much money developing a software and hardware package when they could have just waited for the local travelling salesman, bought a generic reader and then rebadged it, because it is obviously so much better than a package that has been built specifically for their systems.
At the end of the day it's your car, do it your way. It might be the more expensive way, but at least you will know that you found the problem.... eventually.
And I beg to differ

You asked for any better suggestions, and MrBSI suggested that you take it to the experts. No need to start name calling just because someone has given you advice that you don't like the idea off.
Maybe if you listened to his earlier suggestion, you won't need to break out the lube and you can find the fault for less than a McDonalds Happy Meal.

Because the snap on has given you a generic code that points to more than one area of the system. PP is extremely likely to give you a specific fault code that will point to exactly which 1 of the 2 parts are likely to be playing up.
And learn some English & some manors, especially when your asking for help.

A code is just a code. It was a possibility that the switch has a fault if not that then the ecm. But then under fervor investigation the fault triggered while driving through deep water. Now im thinking there maybe a short to earth some where, but external wiring for the airbag hmm. I got a feeling peugeot planet as wonderful as you lot say it is, its not going to tell me where the short to earth is. Infact any diagnostic equipment(odb just wont be able to see that info. Im simpily not paying main dealer prices for a fault that is inconsistent there for hard to find thereforee experience. Hence im on here talking to peugeot experts and infusiastes.

If only PP2000 was just another code reader!
It's not. it can do far more including testing sensors, solenoids and circuits.

Then take your fingers out of your ears and listen to them then, rather than trying to tell them that they know nothing.
PS. I don't think MrBSI was offering to consult the manual
