Hi,
I have a 2005 Peugeot 206 CC. 44k on the clock. I've had no problems in the 4 years that I've owned it until the other day.
I've just spent a month of driving it daily and heavily through Europe. No problems. Then I went to start it on Monday and the battery was turning over but not starting. I'd not left the lights on, but maybe I'd left the door ajar overnight.
I got someone to jumpstart me and I drove it for around an hour. Then I jump out for 15 mins and it goes dead again. I got it jumpstarted again and drove it for around another 2 hours. Left it for an hour and it's dead again.
I don't know whether I should get breakdown cover (£53 a year as I need European cover too) or just buy a jumpstarter from Argos for £17.99.
I think I may need to buy a new battery, in which case the jumpstarter may get me back on track. But if it's something more complicated, maybe I should fork out for the breakdown cover.
Does anyone have any advice, please?
BTW, I got the air conditioning serviced in Spain and it's brilliant now!
Thank you.

Get the battery tested, that will then give you an idea on weather you need to purchase another battery. and buy break down cover, just to be safe...

Fix the problem and buy breakdown cover.
It's all well and good spending money on a jump starter, but what happens one day if you breakdown and it's not a flat battery. At least by paying the extra you get a jump starter and everything else that goes with the breakdown cover, including recovery. Think it's about £140 to get towed off the motorway, and then you are just dumped at the next services or junction, then you have to arrange to get your car either repaired or recovered to a garage. It would end up costing you 4 times what the breakdown cover is, and that's just for one breakdown.

Thank you both. I think you are right. I'll buy the cover!

Sounds like what happend to me last month. I turned the key and the starter turned but the car didn't start right up, once it started it ran badly, died and and reset the battery, I could tell because the clock was blinking. I started it again and it ran okay, but the Airbag light came on along with another light don't remember which. This happend a couple more times through out the week.
When I finally had the time I brought the car to an electroauto. He checked the battery and it was really down on amps/power. I bought a new battery and all the problems went away.
I'm looking into road side assistance as my insurance doesn't provide it. Probably get ACI the Italian equivelant of what in the States in called AAA. It's kind of pricey but it would pay for itself if I used it once.
When I lived in Spain my insurance covered Roadside assistance at no increase to the cost of the policy... never had to use it though.
