I used to drive with 205/45 R16 here in Egypt, but as the roads aren't good, I changed to 195/50 R16. Condition gets better but still have the problem of balloon in the side wall of the tyre when I hit something (bricks, digs....etc) I'm thinking of going to 195/55 R16 would this decrease handling apposite to comfortability?
Note: I use Fedral tyres which are really awesome! After trying many different tyres, I figured that Federal is the best for the roads here.

It may increase roll slightly but if the roads are that bad I advise your get them as a tyre is the first shock absorber (as such) the car has before the spring

Federal's lasted about 12 months on my 206 and that wasn't driving hard (it's a 1.4 Hdi after all). I moved to 195/60x14 on the Nimrods as the 175/65x14 looked too narrow on the new 5 1/2" rims. I am NOT a fan of stretched tyres BTW ...
Wet performance on the Federals was exciting ... to put it mildly ... and not what I wanted, and once they started to wear handing got worse and worse. Use Falken's now.

If the roads are that bad I would be tempted to try a reinforced / extra load tyre.
