Hi Guys,
I'm new to the forum and i just came accross it whilst trying to find some info on an injector problem i'm having so hopefully someone will be able to help.
I have a 03 plate 206 1.4 Hdi and it's been making a terrible racket just when it's at the biting point. I took it to a local garage and the guy couldn't identify the problem but said i had one leaking injector and possibly two. He couldn't give me a price for the work as he said it all depends on how they come out of the engine. He said it could take one hour or one day at £40 per hour. I have no idea if this is correct but i don't fancy getting hit with a bill for upward of £500 if it takes a day to get them out.
I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and roughly how much it cost to repair. I know nothing about cars so cannot do the work myself. The car has only did just over 30,000 miles too so i thought it was a good un. It's run perfectly for 2 years since i bought it.

Hi Scott
ive had my 56 plate 206 repaired twice for injector seals as the first time i had them done at a cost of £225 at my local garage didnt do the job properly and i ended up taking it to peugeot garage 10 months later at a cost of £335 so basicly you get the service you pay for , some things are better off paying peugeot to do

Thanks for your reply. It's actually Evan's Halshaw i have handed it into today so i'll see what they quote me. I might call Peugeot right enough for a quote. The reason i didn't is the clutch went last year and the garage accross from my work towed the car to their premises and fixed it for roughly £180 and Peugeot had quoted me £500 odd.

I would ring around to be honest and see which prices are best, but at least with Peugeot you know the problem will be sorted

A Peugeot main dealer would use genuine part's & quote the official book time for the job, that's why the price they quoted was more.

Garages drive me crazy. The mastertech in Evans Halshaw just told me its not leaking injectors but some problem with a crank near the timing belt. Now I am not sure what to do as I wouldn't like to pay a pretty penny to have that fixed only for the injectors to require fixing soon. The other garage seemed certain it was the injectors. I think maybe I'll just hand it intopPeugeot. Better safe than sorry.

Injector seals hiss when theyve gone you can hear the air coming out of them , if you cant hear this then it maybe something else , Evans Halshaw did mine as they are my nearest Peugeot dealer

I can hear something whistle or hiss but I suppose I'll find out soon. The evan halshaw at my bit is a ford garage.

Where do you think Ford got the 1.4 diesel engine for the older Fiesta's from.

If it's a leaking injector, then you will have not a lot of power and it will smoke like a b***h if you put your foot in in 3rd/4th (where the Turbo should be making things fun). I'm talking so much smoke the back window looks like you're driving in the dark.
Had 1 injector in my 1.6HDi replace by the diesel specialists in Malvern (under 2nd hand car warranty so no dent in my pocket). I had to have it replaced as they removed it and found the body had cracked. Total bill for removal, inspection, injector strip down, saying oh bugger it's completely shagged and putting a new one in was £360 inc VAT

There's no smoke or loss of power. I only took it in due to a horrible rattling noise.

Update: The garage that has it now has told me it's the crank shaft thats needing replaced and there's nothing wrong with the injectors. They've had to strip the engine to tell me this and they said a new one is roughly £160 including VAT so i'll let you know the final repair bill asap.

Well the car is back and quiet as a mouse again and the cost was a grand total of £80 !!! The garage got the part second hand and fitted it and the car is running beautifully again. I just hope there is no issues with the injectors any time soon. Thanks for your help folks.

£80 to replace a crankshaft doesn't sound right somehow.
How much did they charge for the new bearing shells and seals?
If the place is that cheap, I think they will be booked up for years from everyone wanting to have work done.
