Hi all hope someone can help, my wife's air con has never worked 2001 1.4 petrol 206 and we have owned it for over 4 years, so as it's been hot I thought I'd have a look to see if it's possible to get it going, so out I went to have a look, when air con button is pressed the clutch isn't engaging on the compressor, I know it's probably low on gas should the clutch engage when button is pressed, even with low gas, is there a way to check for voltage going to the compressor and will the be voltage going there with it low on gas and also is there a way of getting the clutch to engage when low on gas to see if it is working please I'm trying to do this on the cheap so the further along I can get without taking it to a specialist the better if I know it just requires a regas and clean I'll my wife will be well happy thanks all

The system is low on gas BUT leaving the system in a non working state for as long as you have will mean its now highly likely some of the seals will have failed.

Needs a vacuum test to see if the system is going to be gas tight.

Might want to talk to MURPHYSSSS - see this thread...
Not sure if he's bypassing the switch or not though. (don't even know if the LP-switch is physically in series or just another input to the BSI, telling the BSI not to power the compressor...)
