My car has been running fine with no indication of any problems, but today whilst driving down the ring road I tried to change gear only to find that my car was stuck in 3rd, I managed to get out of 3rd and into 1st and nurse the car back home with the hazards on since I was only about a mile away. The biting point on my clutch was very very low, I mean about half an inch above the floor pan. Then about 200 metres from my house I tried to change gear again, and the clutch was fine,even the biting point seemed back to its normal point.
When I parked the car up, I sat there and went through the gears, no problem. Then as I went to reverse the car out of my parking space I applied the brakes only to find they were now none existent! I had to oik up the handbrake to stop, and even the handbrake felt diminished.
I recently had a rear brake hose changed, but have checked the reserviour and its full. Any ideas? Do the brakes and clutch share a master cylinder?

The brakes & clutch are separate entity's so don't see how the problem would be related, but the clutch issue could be the 'auto' adjuster on its way out......

Hi E5GDM, is the Pugs clutch hydraulic? When the garage installed my new brake hose they put in a bottle of DOT4, so I am thinking that maybe they forgot to bleed the system after adding it? This is the only thing I can think of that might cause intermittent brake and clutch failure..
