Rear axle is the main one as James stated.

Faulty comms2000 unit is a common problem too (stalk controls). Loose stalks, indicaters not sticking when signalling, High beam being intermittent. Not a huge problem £150 for a new unit, fit yourself if you fancy it, pretty straight forward.

I haven't calculated a true mpg, but I get about 85-90 miles to £10 of diesel. And that's all town stop start driving motorway will be more. I guess 60mpg ish. I drive very economical though.

Isn't there a guy on eBay that fixes your unit for £20? My indicator goes straight from indicating right to left on a sharp corner but it's never bothered me enough to get it fixed.

Cheers for the input guys! I know it'll be slow the mrs used to have the 1.4 tdci fiesta, which I believe is the same engine? But for commuting and day to day duties the prospect of 60mpg vs the 40mpg I'm getting from my Toyota auris at the minute is proving irresistible.

Any other bugs, electrics etc. to look out for when viewing? As I'm calling someone about 1 this evening...

Check the indicator stalk doesn't feel too loose as that could be a new comm unit. Which is £150 if it bothers you. Although they can be repaired guy on ebY charges £20
Test drive it for the rear axle which is a very common fault.
Also if you can try park it uphill and start it. These have crap fuel lines under the airbox and are prone to getting small air holes in them. Squeeze the priming bulb and see if it feels loose or if air is in it.
Peugeot charge £120 for the privelege of new lines. Although like split and I just rerouted a universal 5mm fuel pipe. Which is thick rubber and haven't had a problem since.

Yes it's same engine as fiesta 1.4tdci.

If its got air con make sure the slow and high speed fan is working, high speed fan should come on at roughly 85 degrees.

Loads of threads with this problem.

Resistor and relays corroding.

The 1.4 and 1.6 are ridiculously good on fuel. Maybe a bit less reliable than the 2.0 but not if you remove the Dpf from the 1.6. All respond well to remaps, but the 1.4 will always be slow no matter how much you spend on it, but its not going to use much fuel and road tax is really cheap.

The 2.0 can be picked up cheaply and is indestructible so you may actually save money in the long run even though it will use a bit more diesel. The 2.0 you'll usually stay above 50 mpg average, the 1.6 more like 60mpg, the 1.4 is better still if you can drive it slowly, however I found I had to thrash it to get anything out of it so tends to use more with my style of driving.

I've had all three in 206s and various other cars, you can't beat the 1.6 110 in my opinion. Don't know why people give them such bad press to be honest. Look after the car and it will look after you.

I drove a 1.4 HDi daily for three years, racked up 70k miles and never really had an issue. Yes they are a little sluggish but apart from wear n' tear parts the thing has been absolutely brilliant. 176,000 miles now and just about to get intercooled and a new style turbo (and thats not because the old one is knackard)

I also have the 2.0HDi SW and that pretty good, running a stage 1 and drives well. Rear wiper and demister doesn't work (standard for a SW) but its quite nice to cruise along in.

My 1.6HDi is well looked after, and it looks after me (cruising past BMW's and Audi's up hills is just so satisfying).

A DPF-delete and Remap makes a 1.6 110 into a pretty serious machine...

1.6HDi. Pull like a train. Smokes like one too!

What's the fix for the rear wiper and demister? The latter is essential in my book as it's going to carry a dog who likes to breath heavily onto the boot glass.

there's is a few threads kicking around the internet about fixes for it. Effectively the screen has 'electrical tracks' which break/peel off.

What I've seen done is actually use wire and stick it to the glass. Bit of a bodge but a new glass from peugeot would be bend over prices for sure.

Haven't fixed mine yet as I'm using the car daily, using rain-x for the moment haha. When the 1.4 is back on the road I'll look into it. You maybe lucky and get one that already works.

What is actually the difference between trims? I'm looking at a verve and and an s model and it seems the only difference is alloys and fully colour coded. Otherwise they're all the same... Every trim seems to be. Am I missing something subtle?

206 trims are a minefield as there has been so many different badges stuck on from the factory over the years.

How old is the S spec 206 as even that had trim upgrades on the later versions, one example:

Early S spec had non sport front bumper without front fogs.

Later S spec had sports front bumper including front fogs.

Toyota C-HR GR Sport 2.0 Hybrid with JBL & Alcantara packs.
