Hi All,
I have 206 1.9D with AC.
Over a year I'm facing with the temperature driving in urban area and no one can fix my problem... I did visit over a 4 mechanic... but they can't solve my problem, and I'm tired of loosing time and money anymore.
This is my problem:
When I bought it, the temperature was running very normal.... when it hits ~97 the fan was turning on and temp. drops to 90C...
after a year, the fan start turning on on 113C and it is working for very short time, and temp do not drops to 90C as it should, but to ~99C(very less below 100C). Then again up to 113 or even more... etc etc...
So what I've done is:
1. First mechanic,
- changed the blue sensor... - SAME
- replaced relays - SAME
- clean the relays - SAME
2nd Mechanic:
Replaced the front resistor - SAME
3rd Mechanic - Electrician:
Put to PP - Nothing, Put to another program nothing... and because he is electrician he figured out that it is mechanic problem.
4th Mechanic
- Clean the radiator
- Changed thermostat - SAME
- Manually check the first and second fan speed, everything running normal but it is still HIGH - so SAME
SAME SAME SAME
some facts: When I turn on AC, after full compression the fan is working with the 2nd fan speed.
When I make open circuit - pull the jack from the sensor: few seconds first fan speed, then second fan speed....
Everything is working ok, but why the fan don't get correct TEMP to start working.
any Idea, what else? could it be the BITRON ECU?
What is that doing, how can I figure out that is something with the ECU?
thanks

Have you looked in to the fact it could be symptoms of head gasket failure?

or a dodgy temp gauge on the dash.

they suggested that the temp gauge might be faulty, but it is not logical to me because the temp is always 90C.... If it is faulty the temp will be faulty on 90C too, I think it is not possible to run correct on 90C then faulty above 95C

Has the radiator been removed and inspected? It might be well and truly corroded. New relays have been fitted but is there a decent power supply to them? i.e. are the terminal on the wiring healthy or are they corroded?

yes, the radiator has cleaned, the fluid removed
I think everything good with the relays.
the mechanic cleaned everything... all relays, all connectors...
AND NOTHING
he suggested replacing the Fan-ECU, but I did try 2 ecu's and it was same as with mine

yes, the fan is working, but I don't want to always run on high temp.
I think, constantly running on high temp will burn the engine gasket

I'm pretty sure they run cooler, as standard.
How long does it take for the temperature to rise? Is there coolant in there, air system Been bled? When was your water pump last changed?

For example when I drive on highway and when I have to pay a toll it rises for about 10mins
Yes, coolant is replaced and air system is ok, water pump is same as when I bought it

Just put a cone filter on it . Or clean out the air inlet pipes as they get full of crap and the car runs hot( a new clean air filter aswell) .
Use the ac to cool evern more . Mine ran hot (petrol) found a half blocked air inlet as its in a poor place .put short pipe to filter under the bonnet & it never goes over 90 and if ac is on it sits at 80c or less when moving .

What coolant mixture is in the engine?
Are you using readymixed coolant OR are you using concentrated at a 50 / 50 mix with water?
