Hi Guys, Im not the most tech guy when it comes to motors but I do try... I was wandering if anyone could help me here. Yesterday my misses 206 was hit from behind by a big 2ltr BMW. The bumper is obviously shot along with the exhaust. But, after checking further I noticed that the boot floor has also crumpled and creased too. I was wandering how much this would cost to correct as this guy is trying to palm me off with cash as opposed to going through insurance? Would it cost more than the actual car value which currently cant not be too high as it is a 53 plate 1.1 with nearly 100k on clock. Any help would be so much appreciated guys.
Thanks in advance

Just go to an insurance approved garage and ask for an estimate. That way you'll be getting a price from someone that can actually see the damage rather than having to guess at how severe it is from a description.
From what you have said, the car will be written off by the insurance.
I would be questioning why the BMW owner would prefer to give you cash. Even if cash is given over, you still need to inform your insurance company of the incident. If your wife doesn't inform them, and she doesn't declare that she was involved in an accident at future renewals, she risks having her policy cancelled, which makes it very difficult to get reasonably priced insurance in the future.
You pay your premium to the insurance company, so give them the headache of sorting it all out
Hope your wife isn't feeling too sore today

its a write off! Ask for full value of the car.

Not necessarily .. we had this on a Clio and had the boot floor reshaped. It's a Cat C now, but back on the road for less than the value of the car. Insurance reckoned it was uneconomical but they are using new parts prices. We had a 2nd hand tail-gate and bumper fitted and respray is so good you can't tell. We used the same company that the insurance were planning to use ...
I'd ignore the driver's offer (in fact inform your insurance he offered) as he's hiding something ...
Apart from the "without due care" driving offence he's liable to be looking at ...

Did you get the guy's insurance details?
What happens if there is other damage apart from the obvious, ie damaged axle, wheels etc, Best left to the insurance experts to sort out. If something is wrong later after accepting the cash then you'll find it very difficult to get any more money out of him.

11 year old 206 1.1 with 100k miles on it & a creased boot floor, it's heading to China to be recycled as it's beyond economic repair ![Wink Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif)
