Hey Fella's,

Got a problem with my Gti 138. When the car has been sitting overnight or for a long period of time, when I first start it up when the engine is cold, it idles extremely rough. Seems to be worse now that the weather is cold and I start her up first thing in the morning.

Once the engine is warmed up or after a few minutes of driving it sorts itself out and it's not an issue.

Is this a common problem? Any idea's on what could be causing it...a faulty sensor or something? I did a search but didn't find too much...

Cheers
Rob.

Happens a lot with my car in the cold and does with most cars nothing to worry about.

Although my engine is completely different to yours I had this kind of problem last year as well as the revs jumping up to 2000 and taking ages to settle when turned over. I taken it into Peugeot under warranty, they said they could not find anything wrong with the car or its sensors, and gave it an ECU update

The problem went away straight afterwards (though now I've said it, it will come back!)

Well, my other 206 doesn't have this problem and never has in teh 5 years I've owned it. That's why I think there is something wrong with the GTi...it's not normal. I wouldn't even call it a rough idle...it's more like violent shaking.

The Revs don't bounce around...they stay constant...

This was happening with my car but i have since had a service and she seems a lot better, the mechanics said the chances are it was probably the Spark Plugs

Spark plugs/Injectors/Idle Valve/Lambda, could be any of them! Or it could just be misbehaving.
