Guys, for the past month or so my 206 has been producing a "diesely" engine sound, unlike the regular "purring" the xsi usually gave, now it sounds diesely,I can really hear the ticking of the engine building up while driving, especially when there is a wall next to the car and the engine noise bounces back to me, almost as if the pistons are not submerged in oil, but the oil levels are fine and the oil is clean.. also, while on idle the engine sounds just fine, also when revving in idle, which makes me think the issue is not actually related to oil.. any thoughts?

Blowing exhaust?
Leaking breather hose?
Valve clearances?
Timing belt starting to fray and catching on cover?
Broken piston ring?

Well tomorrow I'l be at my uncle's garage and see if he has any idea, I'll be p**sed if it has anything to do with the timing belt, it was replaced less than 3 years ago..
I doubt it's a broken piston ring, as I've had that once in a vw polo, the noise it gave didn't stop when on idle..
I'll update tomorrow if we'll find anything, but don't let that stop you from trying to help me figure it out..

p.s @kandlbarrett - Thanks

Well, went to a visit to my uncle's garage, we took a drive and he immediately said the sound is coming from the transmission, and that it may mean nothing or may be the beginning of the end of the transmission, but that it's not a near future thing.. either way, nothing really can be done now, as I'm not going to spend a fortune in diagnosing what's wrong with it.. I'll just live with it I guess..
