Hi chaps,

I have a few weird issues with my 206.

1) 1st start, my airbags lights come on (driver and passenger) and I get an airbag fault.
2) so I switch off, start again and the airbag fault is gone but I get an immobiliser fault flash up and disappear.
3) Let the car idle for a bit (idles fine), switch off and on again and all faults are gone.
4) the car is then fine for the rest of the day, leave the car overnight and the gremlins return.

The car starts and drives fine with/without the faults, its just the faults are there!
Occasionally I get an ABS fault instead of the airbag lights, but I've had my ABS checked and it is fine.

No codes to read so I'm stumped.

My guess is battery or a lose wire somewhere.
Battery is showing 12.4v, but has been in the car since new in 2006 and the alternator appears to be working.
As the car is fine after its been running, I recon the battery cells could be naffed.

I've read a faulty ECU earth could be the cause, anyone know where this is located before I get the battery tested properly?

Anyone else had this issue?

Eight years old .. well beyond it's sell by date! Sometime you get lucky but most last 5-6 years now. Saying that the originals do seen to last a lot longer than replacements ...

As winter is coming up, might be a good time to consider replacing it as it will let you down when you least need want it to.

Down to just the 1.4 HDi. Cayman Green 2.0i CC sold.

Check the earth cable (main) that going from the battery down the gearbox, that usually break cuz of moving, you can have a brand new one from dealer, check the cable going to the Engine fuse box,if all is good, time for a new battery,as if the battery shows some internal failure, that we don't see,it will cause such problems, that can't be explained.

Definetly a battery issue, sounds a bit low for cranking.

Put a Bosch S4 battery in this morning, seems to have fixed the issue but I'll report back in a week or so to confirm if it has fixed it for good.

Battery was £45 from ECP... Can't complain really!

Zero issues at all since the new battery, I'd say that was a fix!

Just as an added extra... me too!!!

New battery from ECP, ZERO problemos since so i guess it's always worth having a good battery under the bonnet to keep the gremlins away!
