No before you say its not the wife but it is a sound that i can say sounds like a groan, not all the time but sometimes, its not from the wheels etc, i can hear it usually if its at a junction or in slow traffic, is this the alternator bearing? or something else?
Oh,i have a 1.6 206cc 2001 plate.
Cheers

If it's happening when idling ie at a junction then that eliminates a lot of things like wheel bearings etc. Check your belts and I just did a quick search on Google and it would seem the engine cover vibrating (if you have one?) is a common cause

MMm, Its sort of a loud groan to be just a cover? But, if i hold the cam cover (On top) it seems to die down?? Its definitely on the engine area so i was either thinking its the alternator or the idle bearing on the cam itself?
I will get the cam belt done anyway as its been years since it was last replaced just to reduce any more problems etc

You haven't given much to go on:-
Is it only when standing still? (Engine related.)
Does it change tone with RPM. (Engine related.)
Does it happen over bumps or when coming to a stop. (Probably suspension.)
Most bearings squeak or squeal rather than groan.

Either on engine idle, stationary, or being driven, and it is for sure a groan sound, not suspension, i know this, and not wheel bearings as it does it when not moving?

If you can reduce the noise by holding something then you have hopefully found the area the noise is coming from so work from there, sorry can't be much more help!
