How much can you get from it on a budget? My mate said he can remap it for £180 so that's something i will most likely be doing if i even get the car

Will it not fail it's MOT with the De-cat or is it different for diesels?

Diesels are not subject to the same emissions tests like petrol cars, a de catted diesel won't fail an MOT because of it.

As long as it looks like it is there, in other words smash the insides out.

Sounds like a plan. Might keep it standard for a few month to get used to the car. It's a fair sized jump from a 1.1 saxo to a 2.0

For an engine that's about 15 years old it's about right. But yes its got half the power of modern diesels. But it might also be more reliable.

No DPF or DMF. I'm thinking about getting one as a cheap hack.

I've seen several DW10 engines with 400K + miles on & its normally accident damage that has finally killed them of.
I've yet to see a DV6 engine get anywhere near that mileage figure

I like the number one item on the Car Mechanics magazine list of mechanical faults. It wasn't just something common to lots of engines, it was the DV6 engine full stop.

I was talking to a former DV6 owner last week, it ran away on him & went BOOM in a big cloud of smoke & noise
Best thing was it's now 1 less DV6 on the road as he scrapped it.
