Sounds stilly but my car idles crap if you start it with your foot on the throttle. I have to discount the battery for a couple mins and then it runs fine.

My 2.0 HDi ran around with a shot MAF without me knowing (so probably equivalent to when you unplug yours)

During extra 30bhp remap pro_steve from HDI-tuning said that I have to get that sorted, as map needs it.
He said car was driving fine because ECU comes up with failsafe default values, and it's perfectly OK for emissions with factory's engine tune and in this climate.

So why can't you just pass your MOT with MAF unplugged? Smile All my MOTs were in January, pass with flying colours seemingly with shot MAF too Very Happy

Missus' 1.6 16v CC, year 2007 (L-plates to P-plates to NO-plates, but now she wants powwer:))

If the engine management light is on, it will fail.

You're right, if EML sniffs some emissions problem.

Official response:

I funnily came across myriad of debates online where people think any time EML is on it's a definite MOT fail, but that ain't right Smile

From the same webpage mattersoftesting.blog....t-testers/ :
Quote::
When testing SRS MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) lamps we are only looking to see if the lamp indicates if there is a fault with the system. If no lamp is present or it doesn’t illuminate then it can’t indicate a system fault, so it can’t be failed. Some vehicles may also incorporate warning messages on dash board displays; these are in addition to any MIL lamps and should not be used as a reason for rejection.

Also ABS lamp lit is a fail, but EML is not safety feature, therefore only advisory.
