So my 206 has beaten me into submission with an Aircon pump in need of replacing, and a very broken rear subframe in the space of 2 weeks.

The question is do i take it to the local breakers yard (for £130 if i drive it there), or break it myself on my driveway?

Has anybody got any experience of this?

If you have the time and space to break the car, you should go for it as you'd get much more than the £130 being offered by the breakers. You could get a fair bit just for your catalytic converter.

Be warned if you break it yourself & offer parts for sale on here, you will got LOADS of people saying they will buy a certain part from you & then let you down with paying for it / not show up for a cash on collection etc etc.

Seen it a few times on this forum.

Breaking is the way to go if you have the space.

130 is a good price . Aint worth the hassle .. 12/18mnth later you make 150 more .. if you have time and space & more time to deal with the headache of fleabay or sales then go for it .

I got quoted 80 max for car .
Stripped it out made 140 then sold the shell for 36 .
Rear axle hubs gone the lot . .Do you know a scrappys with a mini crane? Most use a hoist ..

Thanks guys.

Its still drivable, if a little unsafe/'fun', so i think i will just limp it to the local scrappie and take their money.

Next car is a Volvo V40 Estate, so thanks for the few but very useful bits of info i have absorbed from this forum, its been very useful!

(no im not retired Wink , Ive needed something a little bigger to cope with my boat which i stick on the roof rack from time to time)

Now im off to join the retired gents forum.
