You have already been told twice that you need to use the correct timing locking tools as the GTI 180 engine has a floating crank pulley.

Both the cam pulleys & the crank itself will each only lock with the timing tools in the correct position!
You cannot do this job safely without the correct tools for timing the engine.

Use the crank shaft locking tool!
That is the ONLY way to get the pistons in the correct position to time this engine correctly.
If you don't have the correct timing tools for this engine then there is no more help the forum can give you.

Any garage / automotive / mechanics tool supplier.
You need the timing tools for the PSA Peugeot / Citroen EW10 engine.
There will be 2 camshaft timing tools & 1 crankshaft timing tool.

The thing with modern engines is that if you are only going to time one engine the tools can cost almost as much as paying someone else to do it.
Also, if the person doing the task isn't using the timing tools the only other way is by tippexing the belt and pulleys and that isn't recommended although a lot of people do it and get away with it.
Finally, if the person doing it doesn't already have the tools it means they are learning on your car. Is that the type of person you want working on it? Or have you learnt that already!

Please also get the VVT checked as suggested by MrBSI. It could be disconnected or a coincidental failure.

GTI 180 engine has floating crank pulley so Tippex isn't really an option.

I'm getting confused by this thread and the others that might relate to the same problem.
You started off with
gaznandrea wrote: |
Help please can anybody suggest a good ignition coil for my 206 gti 180 |
gaznandrea wrote: |
Been told this might cure misfire and poor running of car |
and then
gaznandrea wrote: |
My car has been diagnosed with a intermittent misfire at idle changed spark plugs and coil pack but still the same has abybody got any ideas as to what is problem cheers |
You changed the coil pack and coolant sensors
gaznandrea wrote: |
It seems to start a bit better |
Then you started asking about lambda sensors
gaznandrea wrote: |
Hello there i have 05 gti 180 does it have one or two lamba sensor and were are they located cheers for help !!! |
Then we got this
gaznandrea wrote: |
My gti 80 has come up with catalytic converter fault how do you cure this cheers |
Then we get quite a statement
gaznandrea wrote: |
My 206 gti has broke down runs rough changed coil pack checked spark plugs and they have totally burned out electrodes have exploded |
Exploded?
Then we came to sparkpluggate
gaznandrea wrote: |
After car broke down checked spark plugs they are all burnt out done compression test on all cylinder s got 140 on no1 0 on no2 0on no 3 and 150 on no 4 does any have any ideas as to were to go from here cheers gaz |

The correct & only Bosch spark plug listed for this engine according to Bosch technical services are FQR7ME. |

and now a cylinder head rebuild

gaznandrea wrote: |
Got codes read p1160 came up cleared it went for drive soon as go over 3000 re s same thing happens goes into limp mode same code comes up |
Then we get this one
gaznandrea wrote: |

Got car back from where, as in your previous threads you make it sound like you are doing the job yourself.
gaznandrea wrote: |

Why do you need to find the timing marks? Take it back to the person who did the job. If they are competent in their profession, then they would have done the job properly in the first place. Have a google for The Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982
You have that much advice spread over the forum from what began with having an intermittent misfire diagnosed, I think everybody is losing track of what has and hasn't been done. Everything seems so all over the place.
It also looks like you are just throwing parts at the car in an attempt to solve the original issue rather than finding what the cause is and sorting that.
I can see this problem ending up with the head off again to replace bent valves, preferably by someone who knows what they are doing.
