So last night I go for chips, park in the normal little car park outside the shops and when i come back to the car I find a gouge down the rear drivers door!
Mad with the world I stand there for a moment when Simone, lovely lovely Simone comes over and gives me the reg of the van that did it, YIPPEE!!!
Bless her, she saw it happen and him then drive off again so gave me the details and her number and so I felt a bit better. But then as I was going he pulled in again past me so i followed him into the chippy and spoke to him. |Denied it at first but then i told him I had a witness so coughed up his name and number etc, refused his address tho! Said he never felt it apparently!
So am about to call Insurance and see what they say, but it's punctured the metal of the door so i'm guessing new door?
Narked tho, she wasn't perfect but she was in good shape for a 12year old car!

Thank $deity for witnesses!
F'in hate people that try to weasel away from what they've caused.
I hope you saw proper ID - wouldn't trust someone like that any further than I could throw him (and I'm not exactly athletic).
"Lucky" he only caught the door though (?), could've been lots worse.

Hopefully the door is the only thing that's knackered.
It doesn't matter if it's fake I.D or not you have his reg. make sure you take pictures of where it happened and do some detailed drawings.
Main thing is you are alright as you wasn't in the car and you can sort the door

Bit of T-Cut and some elbow grease'll sort that out
In all seriousness though, looks like it is just the door that's copped it.
If you hadn't of tracked him down you could have reported to the police and had him done for failing to stop as well... Dammit your too kind!!!!

And on a separate note...
HOW THE HELL DID HE "NOT FEEL THAT"!!!
It must have sounded like a combine harvester ingesting an industrial roll of tinfoil!

Yeah, builders van fully laden so was a good heavy thud!
Found myself a door and a garage to fit it, asked him for the money and he's changed his mind, reckons it wasn't him now so i've called my insurance and they can chase him.
I know they'll write her off for that, a new door alone from Peugeot is probably 500quid but he can have it as far as I'm concerned, being a knobber! Will cost him alot more in the long run I suppose. Just waiting for her to be collected and assessed, and for them to make me an offer!
Sucks really, she was a good girl but needed a couple of tyres and a nearside balljoint so you never know, i may walk out of it half decently, ish!
Now, off to Autotrader...

MrWhite I'm in Birmingham and may take you up on the offer. The insurers are collecting her tomorrow and will assess it, I imagine they'll write her off as a new door from Pug must be loadsa money, but if they do i'll try to buy her back and sort that new door
Cheers for the offer

So.....
I'm a Cat D, which to be fair was always a possibility!
Anyone know where I can find an accurate value for my SW? See what they might be offering me for her so I can see if she's worth buying back? I'm thinking a new door from ebay fitted locally and she'll be good as new!
Or do I just take the money and run...?
Hmmm....
