Hi,
I seem to have a problem, there is quite a loud top end rattle coming from the top of the engine, do these cars suffer from rocker issues? Don't think it has lost power noise came on as I was driving it but not drop in power/ shudder etc.
Also is it a big job to have a look, I can see about 10 x 10 mm nut should I have a quick look?
Any ideas what it could be, like the pug, its done 115k and 2000 year.
Cheers and hello

Hi all, there is no adjustment on the cam shaft rockers, it appears that the car has hydraulic system, I have taken the tops of the and can see the cams, everything looks fine.
Any idea where this rattle could be coming from?

well since your car is 1.6 16V (NFU),with hydraulic system, then I recommend the following:
1-Get an engine oil flush to get rid of all the carbon build up inside the engine.
2-get a new oil filter (OEM one)
3-Use a decent branded oil,and use 5W/40 synthetic .
4-also you can use an oil additive to make it better.
5-it worth to check the temp. of the engine, does it reach the ideal temp which is 90->

Dont spend any unnecessary money untill the problem has been diagnosed. Might need another engine put in

how can be an oil and filter change spending unnecessary money??,that is a small amount of payment compared engine change.

As timon stated, do an oil flush and filter swap and see if it quietens down
If nothing is changed you may have to replace the hydraulic rockers, this can be expensive so i would advise trying to pin point exactly were the noise is coming from before you shell out
