Hi...we have 2002 1.4hdi with 99k on the clock. Its been fine for the last few years but has started playing up on frosty mornings. It starts perfectly first time and ticks over OK...but sometimes when revs are increased to abou 2000rpm it hesitates ..if Ilift my foot off the throttle it will idle but if try and keep the revs up it often dies.
I have replaced the fuel filter and checked under the air box for split fuel pipes. If it were a petrol, it would be like the choke is not working.
Fine in warmer weather, pulls well with no somke.
The only thing I have found is with the priming bulb...when changing the fuel filter it never went really hard...I can still squeeze it a little and hear fuel being squirted somewhere.
Any help appreciated !

Just check it by looking at it,if there is no diesel around the seal, then all is good, but still the problem is an injector related,as the diesel injector, the weak one that is,show the weakness symptoms when cold (first start),try to see if someone close to you got a PP2000,so you can see the readings of the injectors when you start it,and while driving.

Any updates about the injectors check? i need to add that if there is no leak around the injectors seal, then you have one or more faulty injectors.

hi thanks for your reply..finally had time to have a good look and all the injectors are dry. but i did notice that while pumping the primer, there was a very small amount of air visable in the clear fuel pipe..not a lot and it seemed to intermitent. checked the fuel pipes icould see, including the ones under the air box and could see no splits or pin holes.
to rule the pipes out i will change all of them....but i cant see how i can get my hand on the last connector on the back of the engine...its the lowest one that i think connects to the fuel punp.
any ideas ??
