Guys need some help, ive recently bought a 206 xsi 16v now on the drive home all was well other than the rear axle I knew about its been sitting up about 3 weeks now but it has been started and warmed up every few days,
so I went out to start it there now and starts fine but it is only blowing cold air ive both radiator pipes are hot the water bottle does however appear to have a trickle of water running down from the lid, the temp gauge seems to jump from around 70c very quickly to well over 90c near the red zone and which point it then drops back to roughly 70c the heater matrix pipes below the glove box beside the center console are Both warm and the oil is not creamy and once it's cold I will check the water bottle,
Not too certain what to do next to troubleshoot the issue any help is appreciated guys

Would you be from the emerald isle by chance?
No offence but your style of speech is familiar. First off I would check to make sure everything is tight and your cooling fan is kickin
g in. Normal temp should be around 90.degrees. If your heater is blowing cold air I would look at those controls first. Do you have 3 knobs or climate control

I would suggest that you replace your thermostat,as from what you described it looks that you got a one that stuck,then open later after it's normal temp.

Why would his heater be blowing cold all the time though.... its a teaser

mmmm...it's a teaser alright...blowing cold air all the time means 2 things:
1-Open thermostat all the time,which means taking forever to have a warm water.
2-Clogged heater matrix,with age and maybe had problems in the past with having oil in the cooling system,so it needs to be flushed in a good way,as taking the hoses out from the engine bay,and use a washer jet to clean it :),it works like a charm everytime.
So I recommend that he replace the thermostat anyway,as it won't do any harm to engine,but incase it was fault,it can be risky.

Yes I am from Ireland lol,
On another note I took the car for a very brief drive over the street to my friends about 300yards and it's now warming as normal and the cooling system seems to be working as normal, and I have warm air again very odd.
