Hello,
I used to post in the forum before the server crash, but not so frequently. Most of time reading and gathering information for my project: a 2.0 engine swap. After a lot of information and investigation I started this project.
I always loved the 206 but always wanted the 2.0 engine on that. Unfortunately there is no such GTI180 or RC here in my country (Brazil) , so I had to build my own version, with some restrictions.
Based on that I decided to start the project and build a 2.0 version, using the EW10J4 engine, which came from a Citröen Xsara Picasso. That was the same engine as the GTI 138.
My car was originally a 206 1.0 preplexed version. And the engine was coming from a muxed Xsara Picasso. So the job was very hard , which included all the ECU, BSI, BSM, speedometer, loom reinstallation. These are some pictures of the 1st phase for the project:
Complete Car (the silver is the 2.0 and the black is a 1.6 16v for everyday use)
Phase 1 Specs:
2.0 16v EW10J4 engine (from a Xsara Picasso)
2.0 16v gearbox from a Xsara Picasso
ECU+BSI+speedometer + loom from a Xsara Picasso
exhaust manifold from a Xsara Picasso
2 1/2" exhaust system (needs to improve)
Some adaptations needed :
Speedometer from a Xsara Picasso in the 206 dashboard:
RPM and hallmeter
Some mods included :
- sunroof removed from another 206 and installed into mine
- black vinyl roof
- sports bumper in the front with fog lights
- 17" sports alloy
- front brake discs with 290mm
- rear axle with brake discs with 243mm
After this first phase, I took the car to the dyno and could confirm the "original" performance, with 125bhp on wheels and top speed of 219km/h

This first phase was done by a mechanic and I didn't have much time to follow up all the details. After 1 year using the car I started to have a lot of electronic problems and found out that all the loom work was very bad. And many of the connections were with problems and even creating some short-circuits. The original mechanic didn't want to fix and I had to find another one. Big problem ...
The new mechanic didn't want to reuse anything from the original project because he would only guarantee a brand new electric installation. So we would need to move to a new phase and redo all the electronic from brand new and again. The only model I found available at that time was a 307 SW 2.0 16v. So here it starts the new phase:
Phase Specs:
keep the original 2.0 16v EW10J4 engine (from a Xsara Picasso)
change the gearbox to install a new one from a Xsara VTS
ECU+BSI+speedometer + loom from a 307 SW
digital air conditioning system from the 307 SW
Here are some pictures of the dashboard afther the 307 based project :
After all that I still have some problems:
- the donor 307 had ABS and because of that I don't have the speedometer working. The 307 system relies on the Speed Sensor which comunicates with the ABS and then sends the speed info to the dashboard via CAN network through the BSI. Since my car didn't have ABS and I didn't know that the ABS would be necessary, when I bought the 307 parts I didn't include the ABS system. Now I'm fighting to find a way to have the speedometer working. If I can find the same ABS ECU from the donor 307, I may put it to work... the problem is that it is a very hard model to find, a Bosch 8.0 assembled unit (hydraulic + electronic unit)
I also got the expansion bottle system from the GTI 180 and interior carbon parts from the GTI180. Not installed yet.
Next steps are:
- solve the speedometer issue (already investigating for 3 months), maybe adding an external speedometer
- install the water expansion system from the GTI 180 (already got the parts)
- install the rear sport bumper
- install the GTI 180 17"alloys (already bought the chrome shadow)
- install the CF interior parts from the GTI 180 (already bought them)
- change the exhaust system to a stainless steel complete system and try to reproduce the twin exhaust system similar to the GTI 180
Sorry for the long history. Hope you like my project and want to hear some feedback from you guys.
I will try to update this thread as soon as something changes.

Sounds like you have been working hard on this project for a while now, and still got alot to do any plans after the cosmetics and speedo are working?

wow i bet it makes things harder being in brazil. but fair play shows that it can be done with what ever you find. good luck with it and take some more pics of the black on i want to see the wheels are they 207 ones?

exactly. it has already been some time on this project and gonna be some more.
My original idea was trying to get as close as possible for a GTI180 look in the exterior, which seems to be a stock car, but in the engine my plan has always been for a turbo.
Unfortunately doing and building twice and those problems related to the speedo are making my engine project take longer.
It is just a matter of time and patience. But will build the turbo whenever all the rest is fine.

I didn't know either. I only had the option to continue the project with the 307 parts. So I took the dimensions of the dashboard and could see that it might fit. Although it is not 100% perfect, it already fit in a nice way.

about the black: yes, those are the 207 wheels. I imported from UK, since it was not available here. It was 2 years ago, when the wheel launched overthere. Now it is already available here in Brazil at regular peugeot dealers.

thanks mate the wheels look good id qutie like a pair need to save some money first.
atleast you still got one 206 to play with.

For sure ! The 206 is going to be my personal project.
The everyday use car will be another Peugeot, but family style.

the 307 dials actually look quite good. but the picasso speedo is also an interesting idea.
were the 307 dials just plug in and go or did you have to change anything?

unfortunately not. here in brazil for a sedan style, there is only the 206Plus Sedan, which is a mix of 207 with 206 and sedan. It is a little bit weird, but it is very well accepted in the market , so I got that one. The 307 Sedan here is not well accepted and is about to be discontinued (always delayed compared to European market), and it is also much more expensive than the 207.

in my case I changed all the electronic system (BSI+BSM+ECU+loom+speedo). So it worked fine because it was a full swap.
I had plans to install the GTI180 speedo and looking for pictures it seemed to be the same connector. Yesterday I got a regular 206 muxed speedo and tried to install but it didn't work. First the connector has different locking system. I removed the lock and connected just the pins directly through but didn't work at all. So I believe the speedo for 206 and 307 are not compatible. At least the models that I tested:
my "307" system is the 1st generation (CAN-VAN) , but there are 2 more generations after that. Maybe some of them is compatible with the 206.

I don't know why as well, but it seems that here people only like 5door models. For a sport car I can't stand 5door. So this project is based in the 3door, which is rare here.
