Hi guys

Really stupid question here, my cigarette lighter popped out of the dashboard last week and I couldnt push it back in because of the size (still not sure how it popped out!!!)

So I have removed the black section on the side of the socket which means I can now put it back in and it fits flush near the gearstick. Only problem is that I removed this black part (image shown below)
The socket still works perfectly, still charges my phone etc, what on earth was that part and is it dangerous to use without that section?

Thanks again

The black part on the side could hold the bulb used to illuminate the socket.
I'm sure it'll be fine without it.

The black part is for the light which illuminate the orange circle you see on top,it should be fitted back in with no problem.
