Hi Guys

This is my first post here. Great site for really useful info on 206's.

Firstly, I have a 1999 1.9 Diesel 206, 3-dr, non-ABS, no electric windows model.

Occasionally I think my (MIL) Engine Mgt Lamp flickers on my car while driving, it flickers so fast that I cant make out if its the MIL or not. It's definitely, not the Oil, Charging or Airbag lamp, which leads me to think that its the MIL lamp.

So, first question is, does my car have a MIL light on the instrument panel.
When I turn on the Ignition, all the main warning lights are illuminated, but I don't see the MIL (as pictured in the owners handbook).

I have a small Diagnostic Code reader, and when I plug it in I get a "Read Code Error". I've taken the car to 2 separate mechanics, and they too were unable to connect to the ECU. One mechanic had a Launch diagnostic tool the other was using AutoBoss. Neither of them were able to explain why they could not connect to the ECU to read fault codes.

So, does this car have an ECU? I'd like to locate the ECU, so I could possibly test connections/wires between the 16-pin diagnostic port and the ECU.

I can see the BSI unit, is the ECU connected to the back of the BSI unit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Avdance. Declan

Your car won't be EOBD compliant as diesels only had to be in 2004. The mechanics should have known this.
Your best option is to find someone with PP2000 who can hook it up for beer tokens

Don't know about the 1.9 but the 206 ECU is normally under the bonnet near the cambelt end of the engine on the inner wing. Rectangular box with three connectors on our two.
Down to just the 1.4 HDi. Cayman Green 2.0i CC sold.

Thanks Guys for your replies. @macca1411: I wasn't aware that the diesels weren't EODB compliant until 2004, does this apply to the 1.4 and 2.0 HDI's too. Cheers
