What size is hub nut on 2.0 ltr 138bhp 206CC BE type gearbox ..

So now have three suggestions: 34, 35 & 36 ...ummm.
Don't have the car here and don't want to risk waiting until Saturday to start and then find a socket.

I've had mine undone that many times I know it's a 35mm socket, but you can get away with a 36mm but be prepared to replace the stake nut after a few attempts of this.

had mine off last week doing a wheel bearing, Its a 35mm but like Lee stated can be done with a 36mm. couldnt find a 35mm at halfrauds so used a 36mm then took back for a refund when finished lol!

If you dont have an airgun then with the wheels on the ground stick the car in gear & get someone to press the brake pedal down while you undo the nut.
Thats assuming the wheels fitted have removable centres.

I don't have an airgun, keep meaning to invest in one, and usually end up doing them on my own, my trick is to just get the top of my jack handle and wedge it onto the brake pedal with the drivers seat. That with a big breaker bar and I've never had any trouble.

OK ... Here's and interesting one ...
Nut 1 on the new driveshaft, Nut 2 from J&R (as I wasn't sure if the old one would be ok or a new one came with the shaft)
32mm and 36mm ... Wonder what the old one will be?? :
But I've got a set of 30, 32, 34, 35 & 36 on hand.

Have you compared the shaft diameter of new and old?

Both exactly the same .. Both ends. Perfect fit.
Either nut fits on either shaft but so does my spare 36mm so same thread and diam hole just more metal ...

Well that wasn't half as bad as I expected. Hub nut was a pita to get off but a combination of impact driver and breaker bar extended using jack handle worked. When it went crack I thought it was the breaker bar .. phew!
Tightened it as far as I dare .. with breaker bar at a very, very worrying bend! ie ATAIFC! Had to bounce it a small amount to line up split pin hole.
Garage now reeks of gearbox fluid even though I caught most in oil change pan and small amount on cardboard ...
Daughter should be happy ... she can turn left now without the car sounding like it was going to explode!

4 ft long 3/4 breaker bar and 5:1 torque multiplier. Easy provided nothing else breaks first. Very little feel with that monster but SOMETHING always moves.
