Anyone able to shed any light on how the hell to get the wishbone free from the hub assembly?!? (2002 Peugeot 206 1.4 8v)
Everything else is out, just the wishbone left to drop the hub to remove the shock. I've used a splitter, I've smashed, pulled, barred, everything yet it's still stuck. It's popped and it currently sitting around halfway down the taper now won't budge at all.
Really at the end of my tether now especially since I have new shocks sat in the car waiting to go on.

Gently open the split slightly in the hub assembly then lever the arm down.
I use a length of 4x2 hardwood. One end under the floor pan, over the arm, and out the front ... Then stamp on it.

Try it this way. Mine come out with downward pressure with a foot onto the wishbone.

I managed to eventually do it by using 2 ball joint splitters (the plain fork variety)
I used one of them, then slid it halfway back in, then used the other and hammered it all the way in, then hammered the original one the rest of the way in and it came out with no effort!
Now I have my shock out after having to use a nut splitter on the drop links (the torx head on the stud rounded STRAIGHT off), now to get the new ones in!
Any tips on how to get it back into the pinch clamp? It's tight AF

Interesting!
Did ball splitters damage balljoint rubber gaiter? Important unless you're replacing wishbones.
Some drop links might have a cut behind thread to throw a wrench around, worth checking, but I haven't come across a 206's one yet.
Ensure hub's pinch clamp is clean, lubricate both parts, align the shock's pinch pin with the hub's cutout.
Shock should already be top mounted, and you could simply jack the hub on into it, if it's still tight, pry the hub with a large screwdriver between the pinch bits.

these are not taper fit and should not require a ball joint splitter nor hammering. What often happens is the joint comes out slightly then gets hooked up in the bottom swivel. Some minor jiggling or gentle pry whilst applying pressure in the way Gazza has shown should do it easily.
edward also has good advice about gently prying the pinch open.
You have removed the pinch bolt all the way haven't you. This pinch bolt sits in a recess in the bottom swivel. Loosening it isn't enough to drop the bottom swivel the pinch bolt MUST be fully removed.
