Hi, so the dreaded and inevitable has happened to my rear axle. 2005, 206 1.4 HDi with 125k miles. On the driver's side rear there is a knock. When I jack up the rear wheel and push and pull on the point furthest from the trailing arm and there is some slack. I presume the bearing is failing.

My problem is that I don't have the facilities or time to fix it myself. Another problem is that a number of mechanics near me won't take on any work which is more involved. I offer them money and they either say no, or say yes then mess me around and end up doing nothing. I did manage to get my starter motor replaced by one last year but I had to tidy up the mess of unplugged leads later. Not good.

Does anyone know someone willing, with some professional pride and attention to detail who would tackle replacing the trailing arm bearing in the York area?

I imagine if you get all the parts first they will fit it all. They just don't want a car sat on ramps while waiting for parts.

I always buy parts ready for the mechanic. They still mess me around unfortunately. Our house is on a slope. The drive is tiny and also on a slope. No shelter and I cannot jack the car up safely. Full axle replacement sounds a good idea but it still leaves finding a willing mechanic.
