Strangest problem I have ever come across. I thought i was imagining that the engine was running on after i was taking the key out for a while, then it occurred to me that my car has developed this weird problem where if i have the lights on and my foot on the brake pedal and turn the ignition off or even take the key out the engine will keep running, even the radio stops on but as soon as I remove my foot from the pedal or turn the lights off it dies.

I do have one of those stalk converters that let you use the radio stalk on a 3rd party radio, a sony in my case and it works properly, it turns the radio off when you take the key out like it should be rather than having it play away to itself until the bsi goes to sleep. I mentioned this so people dont confuse my mentioning that the radio plays on after taking the key out.

Its not an electrical latch triggered while the ignition is on either. If I turn the lights on and press the brake pedal without the key in the ignition the dash instruments all light up and the fuel pump primes, im not going to try it but im guessing that the car will also bump start too.

If I disconnect the rear offside light cluster the problem goes away completely, thinking it would be that I opened it up expecting corrosion but its spotless inside.

What the hell is going on there? lol

Its fitted correctly and its spotless too, I fail to see how a bulb could feed a live back to the ignition and everything though, kind of defeats the immobiliser, I know what you mean I just cant see how its even possible got me really stumped, Nothing shows up on pp2000 either everything passes apart from an o2 sensor, even the com2000

Have you got the right bulb fitted? Is it a double filament bulb?

There is something wrong with that cluster which is causing the bsi feed to merge across. Or you have damaged wiring thats shorted with the fuel pump wiring
