Update June 2017; always a good thing when one can finally get their head around a list of things left todo:
☑ Drop ceiling grid in lower bays
☑ 2 more coats of white in high clearance areas
☑ Drop ceiling grid in high clearance bays
☑ Ceiling tiles and lights
☑ Paint walls grey at splash-height
☑ Fit sockets to the walls
☐ Floor painting with floor paint
☐ Start working on cars
H'all!
I know it's not a car project, but it will cater at least two 206s within; so I leave the removal of this thread to admins' discretion
Pic for attention
All started back in October 2015 as a quick barn-to-car workshop conversion, and turned out into a full-blown project (we all know how they become endless), just because one mate said "but we could make it all look nice!" We agreed to stop any work on cars, and finish the damn thing first
I'll spare the words, and paste some before/afters of this thrashing place (of grains and cars )
From holes to walls
Billd gates
Lamp posts of the past
No need for that mask Jim!
The mezzanine, just because we like a good cuppa
Yep, the whole thing will be held by Jimmy's welds, welp!
Bob the Builder is having a break
Hmm.. but we ordered a free coffee table..
Eh, nevermind, nothing what an angle grinder wouldn't cut
Finally! Ready to brew
Hello from the other side

Perfectionists, roll up!
The only way is up!
In this staircase, I have to agree with the forehead-palming Jimmy: Bob's gone bezerk

Ramping up
Just came back from Screwfix with concrete and forgot to buy trowel, no problem as long as there is a welder among us
Not goin' anywhere!

Ah there they are, going into the chicken coop!

A phrase from a passer-by, later became our tag line:
“I've seen ships built with less materials!”
Studs
Needed to sweat through ebay to find one on offer
I wonder which century this has been reclaimed from
An odd visit to carboots, mandatory 206-in-a-pix
Look up for "Interlocking coin vinyl tiles"
Cowboy-driven flooring
Wearing protection is a must if you ever enter Unity's premises
If your browser managed to reach the end of this pic heavy thread, congrats! I'll keep it up-to-date, also with tips on how to build yourself a comfy garage, having all the tools and equipment within reach, why avoid lay-low drawers, and what have you. Share your workshop experience too! Watch this space, sometimes also this. And dream big!

Cheers Pez! It's all WIP, and we just keep trashing the place with wood/metal shavings and offcuts at the moment
We're pushing and can't wait till all done, insulation, plaster, and painted; now wiring the place up, need to think where wall sockets and air hose will be in my corner..
You've been blessed with your place! All that equipment will give you some mad-of-a-project ideas

Cheers lads!
The plan is to lay joists/flooring all above, then metal studs and conduits for electrickery all round, then insulation and finally plasterboards. Paint them and floor too.
Then the work will retreat into individual bays and scratch heads what height worktop(s) I'll need. With time mates want more tools like hydraulic press, panel shaper, tig welder.. Spray booth, but that's a tad far fetched (getting crammed up either)
I realised if you can, always get your mates together and have a shared garage, this way each car project will go quicker, as everyone has different set of skills!
The final bit's beamed out
Ah the free benefits! Travel through countryside with your mates, asking farmers if they don't want to cheaply rent an abandoned building (or look up on gumtree), ensure there aren't noise-sensitive neighbours, sign a lengthy contract for no-price change (5yrs good measure), doublecheck there are no workhours restrictions and build away!

Good things come in big packages
One wall down.err.. up!
Leftovers will be converted into fake snow!
Already (doesn't) sound like a recording studio
The best training ground for smoothening fillers! Who cares if that's floor or a car
Now back to the unit for the weekend for moar sanding and filling, then a layer of PVA, and British Racing Green deck paint
What've you been up to?
