looked at a friends aircon problems again after bleeding the brakes.
There is no movement from any of the servos controlling if air comes from outside, recirculated hot/cold nothing.
Any ideas?

Might help if you post details of the car:
Year, Mileage, MUX or pre, did they work before

And I'd recommend poking around with a multimeter to see if they're getting power. If they are then check if they're getting signal. My guess is that one or the other is missing because they wouldn't all just... die.
Have you had any work done on the car recently?

Hi, it's for a friend so I don't have full details.
It's a 1.4 GLX 03 plate, Don't know about power. But none of them are moving, my thoughts that they wouldnt all go at one so I'm wondering if it's the digital controller that's failed.

You can pick up a control panel for 15 quid delivered but I'd recommend testing first with a multimeter

Are the servos fed live from elsewhere, or does live run through the control unit. If the live runs through the panel I don't know what else it could be.
It's a friend of mine, who lives a fair way away so instead of going too and fro it saves time and money to have most things it could be with me if that makes sense.

Does your friend happen to own a multimeter that they can have a poke around with? That's going to be the quickest way to get any sort of idea as to what's going on. Also, how do you know the servos aren't turning? Because there's no change in temp?

Hi, you can see one servo and its gear mechanism when you look up behind the dash from the fuse's, I've put a screwdriver on the others and listened for movement and there is nothing.
Absolutely nothing from the servos work, no change in temp, no AC, no moving the air to come from the footwell or to the wind shield. All servos are dead.
Like you say they wouldn't all go at the same time I think, so its a power issue. No offence to the fairer sex, but I don't think she can fault find with a multi meter.
I think these servos are a resistance type with no active switches inside them so I guessing all power for them goes through the front control panel.

I dug out one of my old looms from the parts bin and I agree, the servos are driven by the control unit (powered and controlled).
Have you by any chance removed the control panel from the fascia assembly to take a look? IIRC the servos are driven by a different connector to the rest of the system so that would be where I would take a look for any obvious signs of damage (corrosion, snapped cables, anything out of the norm really).

the idea of different connector powering the servos is is a great help. now im wondering if they run in series where if one looses power they all do.
the dash has been out and it would not surprise me if someone has caught or broken the loom.
Ive had the control unit out, but there was no obvious damage

I imagine they are wired in series. There's a white connector plugged into the side of the control panel. If you can access one of the servos then you could check continuity between those points

Thanks for your input FrankAteMyName, unfortunately I have not looked at this car again due to other mechanical problems that I've been sorting out.
I think I can access a servo under the drivers seat easy enough though, I will get back to you.
