I bought my first car, An 04 5 Door 206 with one Standard none remote key and soon after buying only the Passenger door now unlocks the car, with the key.

Id like to know what my options are for what price ( Bedfordshire Area ), Im told, that its not unlikely my Last door might stop working, leaving me unable to get in my car. Ideally id like to skip the issue and get a remote key, im told this is £200ish. Would it be easy to change the locks, or would i need a new set for the stearing wheel too. Any advice would be appreciated Smile #Firstcarwoo's

You could get a new lock barrel cut to the original key, if your lucky it will come with a new key blade to.

OR

A 2nd hand mechanical lock set would be cheap enough.

Get a key blade, both door locks, the fuel filler cap & the ignition barrel ( plus glove box lock barrel if fitted )

206 locks are very easy to change.

As for remote keys there is a choice of 4 for your car, need to check via the VIN number on Peugeot Service Box which one you need.

You also need the 4 digit alphanumeric security code before you can code keys to the car.

You then need Peugeot Planet to code the keys to the car.

NOTE: If you go in a Peugeot main dealer parts department for locks / keys / security codes take your V5C registration certificate & photo card driving license / passport

A replacement lock built to the original key is normally a 2 week wait as they come built to order from France.

Thanks for your time I really appreciate it. Do i need to remove the door planels and reglue it to install a new lock, as locally the charge is £50 an hour for labor. I phoned a locksmith and was really helpful, he suggested a lock cut for my key would be £50, Just a blank key £50 and immobliser + code + setup with my car £120.

As its a PSA Peugeot / Citroen product, you can change the door lock barrels without having to remove the door cards - you do need a special tool for this method.

Else its unscrew / unclip the door card ( get new clips as then normally break ) then carefully cut the weather membrane then tape it back together afterwards.

Peugeot would charge £72.83 for a door lock barrel cut to the original key.

A standard non remote key again cut to code is £28.78

NOTE: Key still needs coding to the car which is extra.

Anyone with Peugeot Planet ( loads of people have this ) can code the keys to the car, as long as you have the 4 digit alphanumeric security code.

If you PM the VIN ill have a look at which remote fob is suitable for your car.
