I have a 206 with a flat battery (it's been sat still for a couple of months) and I'd like to charge it without frying the ECU. If I follow the safe disconnection procedure in the Beginner's Guide (and elsewhere) then it looks like I'm left with the driver's window open while I'm charging the battery.

The trouble is, the car's outside on the drive and I don't have a garage. The weather's pretty good at the moment, but I don't really want to leave the car with the doors unlocked and the window open overnight.

Should I just throw caution to the wind and jump start?

Before you reconnect the battery.

Open the drivers door.

Shut the door latch using a screw driver to move the catch part to the shut position ( 2 clicks ) - this will fool the car in to thinking the door is shut.

This saves you opening the window.

NOTE: Operate the door handle BEFORE you attempt to shut the door so the latch resets to the open position.
