Hi there
I'm looking for a cheapish way to reset my EM light myself, I have a an 02 plate 206 HDI. Most of the eBay scanners only do diesels from 2004 or newer which is obviously no use to me
Does anyone know of a scanner that I can buy or even a trick like disconnecting the battery etc to get this done?
Thank you

Fixing the fault & then after a certain amount of drive cycles without a fault the light will go out.
OR use Peugeot Planet.

If the problem is there then the light will stay on.

The thing is I already know the cause as its an old problem, The car had bad fuel put in it ages ago and every so often abit goes through the system and trips the light. I can reset the light and the car run perfectly for months and months then one day it will stall as some crappy fuel goes through and bing the lights back on. The only true way to fix it is to drain the whole fuel system & tank etc which I'm not willing to do. I just wondered if I can reset the light as the gaps between this happening are becoming so far apart as the fuel eventually clears out...?

The fuel system is so simple on the 206 you could drain it and flush it and put back together in an hour maybe 2 at most. Besides its probably due the tank strap to be replaced lie the rest of them, and that entails removing 50% of what holds the tank onto the car, and when that's only 4 nuts it's hardly a mammoth task.

Id call the fuel tank securing strap a consumable service item on the 206.

I'd agree with you there, there's an independent exhaust place local to me, who were telling me once when I was in there they used to keep the straps in stock because of the number of car's they had in that it had corroded on.
Which wasn't surprising given the fact that at one point there was 8 or 9 main dealers in the area.

I've fitted 1 to each of my 2003 vintage 206s so far.
There cheap enough from main dealer.

I'm yet to do it on my 2003 GTi, last time I was under it it seemed to be holding up pretty well still. But I think I might pick one up next time i'm at the dealer just so it's there ready for when it does need replacement.
