Hi, I just bought a second hand 206 and I never had central locking in my cars before so not sure whether this is normal or if there is damage. My keyfob has 2 buttons as per 2002 user manual, one to lock/deadlock and one to unlock.
The spare key is different, no peugeot emblem on it and no buttons. It says battery inside !
The buttons on the keyfob unlock and what seems to me deadlock all doors. The lock function does not seems to work properly. When pressing the lock button twice the indicator lights only lightup once on the first press, nothing on the second press. On turning the key towards the back, the doors deadlock. Second turning after less than 5 seconds , does nothing. The car won't unlock by turning the key towards the front. This means that without keyfob battery I can't get in and therefore one of the keys is useless.
Is this normal, damage , modiication, bad setting, fixable or what?
thanks in advance.

Does you 206 have normal central locking OR dead locking fitted?

Wind the window down, lock the car as you normally do, then reach in & pull the interior door handle.

Door stays shut = deadlock's.

Door opens = normal locking.

The deadlocks activate on the FIRST press of the lick button.

Pressing the lock button a 2nd time within 5 seconds should remove the deadlock's & just leave the car centrally locked.

Using the key manually in the door barrels should produce the same result.

Also if your car has never had a BSI software update from a Peugeot main dealer, pressing the lock button a second time within 5 seconds will also disable the alarm system ( if fitted ) - this bug was fixed in later software releases.

As for the door barrels - if it turns one way it should turn the other, maybe stiff due to lack of use, some light lubrication suitable for lock barrels may help.
