Hi
I recently replaced the automatic clutch cable but the bite seems very high. The clutch itself is about 25000 miles old.
The cable I fitted is identical to the one in the photo
Done a bit of web research, there is a lot of mention about a retaining clip that needs to be released after being fitted. I didn't see anything obvious on the cable nor was there any mention on the instruction tab.
Can someone shed some light?

How long have you owned the 206?
They are usually quite high compared to some other makes/models.
Also, can you give more info of the exact year, spec, etc?

There is an adjustment on the clutch pedal stop bolt BUT you must follow the correct adjustment procedure else you will damage the clutch.

its a 2004 fever 1.4i 8v
I took the slack out of the pedal by adjusting the stop bolt and it feels much better.
Im still a bit baffled about the supposed to be retaining clip.

Maybe yours was missing (ie already taken-off) was this part directly from a dealer, genuine part?
Anyway I must stress this: DO NOT take up all the slack from the pedal by using the stop bolt.
The reason for this is so that the self-adjusting cable can take-up the slack over time as the disk wears, and it will not be able to do so if you over-do it from the bolt!

I bought earliest available cable as she needed the car back asap. It is a First Line cable. There is still a small amount of play in the clutch pedal.

OK that might explain the retaining clip issue. I think normally there's a plastic collar of some sort to prevent clicks from being used-up until just before fitting by a trained mechanic.
However: There should be a small amount of play on the bolt and the pedal!
This is important long-term and the stop bolt is not really there for adjusting the pedal feel.
