Can anyone explain to me how to remove the petrol cap locking mechanism from the exterior painted moulding?

Obviously I would like to re-use the key and mechanism that is original to the car. I want to fit a sports type moulding with the dummy allen-head bolts, but am unable to remove the key from the lock once the assembly is removed from the fuel neck so stopping the removal of the mechanism.

I just cannot work out how to do it. Smile

Many thanks if you can advise

If you look at the reverse side of the mechanism you'll see there's a little latch that you can 'push in'.

Press that in, whilst turning the key and you'll be able to remove it.
