Has anyone had issues with or know of any known faults with the Speedo on a 1.4hdi?
Mine can drop out at any time, sometimes it comes back and sometimes stays not working and then the airbag light comes on the dash and will not work again until the car has been turned off for 10 mins at least.... It's a non abs model so can't be a wheel speed sensor. Not sure if the Speedo drive is the one on top of the gearbox but can't seem to find a replacement anywhere?
Any help greatly appreciated!

How do I find out if it's non plexed or multiplexed? I don't even know what that is?

How old is the car? 02 plate?

Also is the radio remote a long stalk or a wider flatter "paddle" shape? Does the radio, assuming it is standard, have a screen built in or is that in the MFD and the radio shape is rectangular? I think the key fobs are also rounder on Non-plexed.

Down to just the 1.4 HDi. Cayman Green 2.0i CC sold.

It's a 2003 '53 plate, stalk is the "paddle" type. Original radio was just buttons and the radio data came up on the little screen on the top of the dash.

the way the electrics work .. multiplex is an early canbus system I believe. Parts are NOT exchangable between the two systems.

Google it.

Speedo sensor is at the back of the gearbox, GSF stock 'em: www.gsfcarparts.com/929pc0400 worth checking with dealer for probably a similar price of the OEM part.

Here's where: www.youtube.com/watch?v=oppyVWM8OMU

My ABS-less 1.4 HDi had been temperamental with its speedo showing nothing, but came back to life once I drove above 60 MPH, and not had problems since.

2.0 HDi, year 2000 (E's restin')
Red GTi 180, year 2004 (VorTechS' sEXy Beast (being) remasteRed)
Blue GTi 180, year 2004 (in hibernation after endless driving fun in 2019, queued for "cambelt in tight spaces")
Missus' 1.6 16v CC, year 2007 (L-plates to P-plates to NO-plates, but now she wants powwer:))
£50 1.4 HDi, year 2002 (seatless transporter, SORNed, rust needs patching)
EV
Jag S(crapped)- & X-Type
GTC VXR (sold)
