hi People. wondering if anyone can help. I getting a rattle coming from the rear of the car when taking left hand corners. I've been under the back end and found the top suspension fixing seems to move about slightly but bolts are all secure. I'm not very car savvy and was wondering if anyone could shed any light on the problem and what steps i need to fix it. thanks in advance

hey, you say rear fixing what do you mean by this as the doesnt necessarily have any top mounts in the rear there are only a few bolts to it, 2 for the shocks, and 4 for the axle
you able to take a pic and cirlce whats lose?

it's the two at the top of the shocks pal. well I hope so anyway as I've heard the axle is very expensive to replace. basically if I get hold of the suspension itself I can see movement at the top where it is fixed. I'm struggling to get a picture as its so low and can't get under properly

check the bush on the damper as well as retighten the bolt and nut, make sure you tighten them up to the require torque.

thats a nice easy fix then, keep tighenting it for now but i would suggest buying new lock nuts from pug! think i paid
£1 for the 2, you may need to use small stilsons plubming spanner and a open ring spanner with the wheel on access i tgight to get a socket on a rachet up there, just pull until your arm start to ache thats what i did solved the problem,

i don't think those are locking nuts.
those should be flange nuts.
the top one is M12 bolt so you need 95ft lb or 70 Nm torque according to the service guide.
do not guess the torque require as i have seen serious accident happened before because of that

thanks seabook. this is why I would rather take it to my the mechanic next door to work hand have it done properly. I really don't have a clue when it comes to mechanics. last thing I want is for it not to be done right and it collapses on a motorway

the ones that are on look like your normal everyday nut and bolt. I'm guessing this isn't right ?

the only problem i found when i fitted my avo rear shock was that the torque specified as you say 70nm but when i tightened mine to that they were lose still and knocked so had to torque them down to 85nm and use thread lock as peugeot call them lock nuts but they are just nuts with a flange! i just got fed up in the end of the knock so thread lock was the answer, no problems after that
