Hi all,
Just last week I was so happy to join this club and now I am thinking of returning my 2004 Peugeot 206S 1.4 to the dealer.
I have driven this car for just 80 miles, about 50% city and even considering the recent cold weather I am finding it hard to believe that 24.6 miles to the gallon (11.6l for 100Km) is within reason for a car that is working correctly.
I am comparing my fuel figures with those of other owners who have published them in Fuelly.com and I am astounded.
Any views on what can cause this kind of fuel consumption? The same driving style was resulting in more than 40mpg from a 2001 Ford Ka 1.3.
Thanks for any suggestions.

im not sure bout mpg but i know for £10 in my 1.6 i get around 35 miles,

My old 1.4 did about 38mpg if I drove it carefully. Might be worth getting the car checked out.

I'm getting between about 20 to 25mpg out of my 1.4... Probably down to the fact I have the most uneconomical drive to work known to man kind.

£10 for 35miles?? thats horrendous. my little 1.4 doesnt get driven lightly and its had a tweaks that hardly benefit mpg and i get 50ish for a tenner round town. motorway closer to 75-80

Do you try and be economical when driving, like rolling up to a stop in gear, using the car's momentum etc?

Yeah, I do try and be economical, but I only have a 4 mile drive to work which is little country lanes uphill, downhill, uphill, downhill etc etc, on a cold engine.. Never get higher than 4th gear, if I'm lucky.

That sucks. You go F1 style and pump warm oil into the car before starting it, or get a more economical diesel

Haha, I did have more economical diesel. Until it got written off thanks to a woman driver... A blonde one. Typical.

When was the car last serviced? Change oil, filters and spark plugs and put a bit of injector cleaner treatment in the fuel tank.
I get between 30-35mpg when doing 100% town driving

Average 30 mpg in my 180. Id say £10 would get me 50-60 miles

I get around 50-55 miles for a tenner, normal in town driving and when I say normal meaning occasionally reving up to 3000-3200 RPM before shifting.

i get around 50 miles per quater of a tank all depends on driving style too sometimes i race it round but most of the time is sensible driving thats from a 1.6 xs
