I'm going to perform a compression test on my 180 just wondered if anybody knows what the average reading should be, or do I just test them all and see, also is it best to doit with all plugs removed or just the one your testing

Thanks Dan

test all cylinders and compare the results. remove all plugs and do each cylinder in turn. You only need to crank it a few cycles each time.

Show your results on here for a diagnosis

Use a screw in CT by the way

Yes they should.... keeping the plugs for each cylinder in order can be useful too

Also would it be normal for it to bring on Eml after, it has now turned off but took a drive and a turn off turn on to do so, the only reason I can think it came on is due to turning the car over with no coil pack plugged in,

Yeah that sounds plausible due to the ECU detecting a error

I think its to low. 100.000 km GTI138 engine giving 160 psi with stock 10.8:1 compression ratio. 11:1 CR GTI180 engine should be much more than GTI138. I guess 165-170.
