So. I know I can take the bumper off to fit the above.

But What is the method for swapping the grille without removing the bumper?

I have seen it said on here somewhere that it can be done?

Any and all advice welcome thanks.

its been quite a while since i fitted and removed my sp grill so cant remember exactly what way it come out, i know my metal 1 went in front to back, cant remeber if the plastic one did though!

i would say its much easier to just remove the bumper, its a 10-15 min job to whip it off Smile

i removed my plastic one by knocking it back from the front to release the clips and taking it out through the front. The original sp grill has its clips as a part of the grill, and not a seperate part.Simply and carefully pass the top half through the front and then the bottom, be carefull or you may scratch the paint.
job done.

Done the same fitted sp grill without removing the bumper, a bit awkward attaching the clips but you get there in the end.

I took my bumper off but then again i had to as i was doing a home grown version that turned out great...only problem is i had sprayed some gti lettering on one side and after checking everything several times i still put it on front to back..

So now i have a really quite nice job that says gti to anyone infront that looks in there mirrors...also takin bumper off was far easier than i expected with the only tricky parts being removal n refit of arch plastics...removal n refit of side prefixed bolts that span on on mine and wot was just averted from being dificult was the torx bolts under the headlites which were only accessed by clamping the torx bit in the jaws of molegrips at90degrees to each other and turning that way...unaccessed otherwise.

Easier to go under the car and put the clips on from the inside than take the bumper off. Especially if the nuts are all rusted on.

Anyone know if it will look any different fitting it without taking the bumper off or will it be in the same position?
