Recently bought a 206 gti on a 52 plate, its done about 96000 miles, 3 previous owners , there's a knocking in the engine, garage said it could be a hydraulic tap?? they said to start with an engine flush and oil change and run for a day.

any other ideas what it could be?? is the engine flush the way forward?

cheers

the bottom end on the 180 engine is rather good as i managed to smash my sump while driving, had no damage to the bearing when i stripped it alll down Smile

as mentioned check the manifold, it used to wind the fu*k out of me when i had my 137 a few years back! hold the car at 4000k revs see if you can hear it!

had someone look over it, said it could be the camshaft (high end), it had no oil in when i picked it up so could be that, also said the compression valve could be f***ed, it will need a compression test.

anyone familiar with these?

cheers
